Reminder Of Broken Bones
Broken bones of a decaying skeleton
Left to rot the days’ hours away
In the blistering sun of our lives long
The once robust beast lies dormant
Almost gone
With a reminder of existence
And of mortality’s repentance
To all that crawls, flies, or swims
Hopefully these will never be
Needed again
By our own race’s fall
Opening the doors for a new to begin
This subtle reminder
That we must know when to say when
Not to exceed our luxurious reign
The broken bones of a time gone past
When once our ancestors cowered in fear
From gargantuan beasts roaming the lands
Until one fateful day that saw
Their last tear
Fall to the ground with their cries of death
They had their time, world to rule
Natural selection was their calling
Ended them and opened the doors
To begin anew
Life blossomed and evolution
Never stalling
Introduced a new rule to the world
The population exploded earth
Covered again
Not necessarily a kind friend
Remember the past
Whispers the bones
Be wary of your beastly style
Forcing a question
Answers unknown
Many fateful lives to show
One may become
The ultimate mile
Stone of the past to burden
And a new reminder
Of broken bones
May be the skeletons of our own
