Nobody Knows
NOBODY KNOWS
Drops in the bucket overflow
Onto the pan and drain downward
In a spiraling gutter
Down they go
Around they flow
And where it all stops
Nobody knows
These drops, their cyclic flows, contain
The mysteries of our universe
Disclosed joys and horrors restrained
From man’s conscious discourse
A complex governing system rearranges
Those whose channels are clear
Tempered by their own judgment
Explosive realizations fall near
To overflow all that is left
To wash the horror at joy’s relent
Dichotomy’s swirl evades the known
Re-derange to covet relief
And chaos is a sounding board
For order, which casts sanity a clue
As to what life really has to show
And where it all stops
Nobody knows
